Day 1: Home-> Auckland, NZ
Fly to Auckland, New Zealand; Meet Edutrips Representative at baggage claim & our coach bus will transfer you to your hotel. Later on enjoy a city tour of Auckland sites include the Skytower with panormanic views of the city, visit downtown, the waterfront and admission to the Maritime Museum. This evening we will enjoy a dinner cruise in Auckland Harbor.
Day 2: Coromandel Peninsula
Embark on a day of fun as you explore Kauri forest with its lush fern groves on our way to the old gold mining town of Puketui with its gold mine studded with glow-worms. In the afternoon we will swim in the hot springs of Hot Water Bay.
On to Rotorua you will see New Zealand’s various sheep breeds and a shearing demonstration. Stroll through Rainbow Springs Park to see Rainbow and Brown Trout plus native birds and animals including the Kiwi. Visit Te Puia, the maori Arts and Crafts Centre and Thermal Reserve with its boiling mud, silica terraces and Pohutu Geyser. This evening enjoy a Maori Hangi, a selection of traditional prepared meats and vegetables plus more conventional dishes, all followed by a concert featuring Maori songs.
After and early breakfast we will travel to Wellington you will enjoy a landscape which is dominated by volcanoes. Upon arrival in Wellington we will board the ferry to the South Island.
Today you will spend the day at leisure exploring Nelson. You can follow the art trail, galleries and coffee shops featuring art, pottery, jewellery, wood and more or visit Tahunanui with its broad beaches and coastal panoramas.
Remote farms, tiny landlocked lakes with dense native bush and forest, all dominated by the towering Southern Alps, highlight your journey to Franz Josef. Upon arrival you will enjoy a guided walk to the glaciers terminal face, or a helicopter flight and snow landing.
Follow the rugged coastline then inland across the Alps and the Haast Pass to the impressive bushlands of the Aspiring National Park. Upon arrival t Wanaka you will enjoy a picturesque walk along a track beside the Clutha River as it flows from Lake Wanaka. Enjoy a thrilling jet boat excursion on the river.
Drive through a picturesque region that has a fascinating history of early settlement and gold mining for a late morning arrival into the ever-popular resort of Queenstown. You will spend the next few days exploring Queenstown with options to bungee jump, river raft or just relax.
After breakfast you will depart for Chirstchurch. Upon arrival you will embark on a city tour and Learn about Christchurch’s fascinating history from the pioneering days through to modern day times and learn how Christchurch is recovering from the devastating February 22 2011 earthquake which has now become a major event in New Zealand’s history.
After breakfast we depart for home.
