Day 1: Departure
Evening departure with an overnight flight to Athens.

Day 2: Adventure Begins
Upon arrival at Athens airport, a tour escort will meet the group and take the group to their hotel via motor coach. After check in the group will have time to unpack and have some refreshments. Next we will have a walking tour of the Plaka district. Located just below the Acropolis, Plaka is the oldest section of Athens. While there we will see Hadrian’s Arch and the Temple of Olympion Zeus. We will have dinner at a local restaurant and return to the hotel for the evening.

Day 3: Guided Tour
After breakfast, we will begin our guided city tour via motor coach. We will visit the Acropolis and see the Parthenon and the Temple of Athena Nike, Syntagma and Omonia Squares. We will also see the Kallimarmaro stadium the site of the first modern Olympics. After the tour we will have a free afternoon to shop and explore this magnificent ancient city. Dinner will be at a local restaurant, then we will return to our hotel for the night.

Day 4: Historic Tour
After breakfast, the group will have the option of a free day in Athens or a full day excursion to Olympia. At Olympia we will visit the site of the first Olympic games dating back to 776BC. We will stop for dinner en route back to Athens.

Day 5: Cruise
After breakfast we will take a daylong cruise of the Saronic Gulf. We will visit the islands of Hydra, Aegina and Poros before returning to Athens. Upon our return to port we will have dinner at a local restaurant. The group will have a free evening.

Day 6: Historic Tour
After breakfast, the group will board a motor coach for an excursion to Ancient Mycenae, the home of King Agamemnon from Homer’s Iliad. We will also visit Epidaurus, which is the locale of a 3rd century open-air theatre. Here tragedies by Sophicles, Euripides and Aeschylus where performed until the 4th century B.C. We will have dinner upon our return to Athens, and the group will have a free evening.

Day 7: Historic Tour
After breakfast, the group will depart for an excursion to Delphi. Known in Ancient times as the center of the world, the place where the heavens meet the earth, it was home to the Oracle of Delphi. It is here, that we will visit the Sanctuary of Apollo. People would travel from great distances to ask the Pythia (priestess) for guidance, she would channel the spirit of the God Apollo and prophesize. We will have dinner upon our return to Athens. The group will determine the evening’s activity.

Day 8: Departure
After breakfast, the group will check out and depart for the airport via motor coach and start their journey home.
